Atlas of Male Genital Dermatology
Although psoriasis, warts, and other medical problems clearly are a significant bane to most patients, do they warrant inclusion in a text on cosmetic dermatology? In contradistinction, the chapters on cutaneous carcinomas are well done but far too cursory.
The chapters on fillers and toxins will appeal to virtually all specialties. Invariably, texts such as this one go to press prior to additional changes in these markets, which unfortunately makes them appear out of date.
Additionally, there is a lot of extraneous information and not enough precision when it comes to injection technique long-term follow-up and treatment of complications , too much detail in some areas massage for preinjection pain and vasoconstriction following topical anesthetic , and too much generality in other areas procedural medications. A real highlight is the section on hair, perhaps because the authors devote a larger and more comprehensive chapter to this topic.
Although lacking some of the basic biology that would serve as a good reminder for many, the chapter does well in detailing the various follicular disorders and the existing treatment options. The area where the authors really distinguish themselves is in the resurfacing section, on both pigmentary and vascular disorders.
However, it would have provided a service to the readers if they had tabulated all of the various types of pigmentation or vascular malformations with the corresponding histologic depth and treatment options. The authors are to be commended on their vast library and quality of photodocumentation.

Almost every clinical entity that is discussed is accompanied by ancillary photography. In many of the examples, long-term follow-up would have been helpful in demonstrating wound healing, recurrence, and potential complications.
