While Sadie has lived with her.
After traveling to the Land of the Dead and convincing Anubis to give them the Feather of Truth, Carter and Sadie seek Nephthys to learn Set's secret name, but when they are attacked by Sobek, Bast sacrifices herself to save them. Zia accompanies the Kanes to Phoenix, and while Carter battles Set, Sadie transports the pyramid to Washington, DC after realizing they cannot defeat Set in his place of power, the desert.
Before Sadie can complete the spell, she sees Apophis, the god of chaos, and realizes Apophis plans to use the power from the pyramid for herself. After discontinuing the spell, Sadie forces Set to help them save the world from Apophis.
In order to prove to Desjardins that they are not possessed by the gods they are hosting, Sadie and Carter release the gods, storing part of their essence in their amulets. Carter and Sadie visit the Land of the Dead again to see their father, who knew he must die to restore Osiris, the god he is hosting, to Osiris's throne.
Horus and Isis express their gratitude to the Kane children by restoring their family mansion and sending Bast back to the regular world to serve as their guardian.
I'm not entirely sure. The set up is promising, as the two narrators and protagonists relay their plan to take an entire record of their adventure and then hide it in a locker and some school for the right person to find.
If you read the opening chapter of The Lightning Thief and loved its warning, you'll thoroughly enjoy this.
But it quickly became gimmicky to me, as Carter and Sadie take turns telling the tale, they also interrupt each other to crack awfully corny jokes and spout "witty" one liners. I think it would have been better to leave that narrative device to the opening and closing.
Otherwise it distracts you from what is going on in the plot, which is quit more important than Sadie telling Carter how hilarious he was when a bird pooped on his face. And on the note of the characters, I'm all for alternating chapters between character perspectives, I've always loved it and find it highly effective as a way to open up the plot. But here, well, the characters speak a tad to similarly.
I mean very early on Sadie uses her British accent heavily, but later in the book its almost completely gone, to the point where i had to check the top of the page to make sure i was reading a Sadie chapter. It wouldn't happen too often, but when it did i always felt a tinge of frustration.
And it was always 2 Carter chapters, then 2 Sadie chapters. It seemed like an odd way to set everything up, why not just do ?
His specialty is combat magic and his preferred weapon is a khopesh , an ancient Egyptian sword. Sadie Kane — Carter's year-old sister. She was six when her mother died and afterward lived in England with her grandparents.
The Red Pyramid
She is lighter-skinned than Carter, with blue eyes and "caramel-colored" hair. The bolder, more reckless, of the Kane siblings, teases her brother all the time, though she actually cares for him. She hosts Isis, the goddess of magic.
Julius Kane — Sadie and Carter's father, and Egyptologist and, secretly, an Egyptian magician who becomes a host of Osiris. Zia Rashid — An Egyptian magician who is a host of Nephthys.
Set — The Egyptian god of evil, and the main antagonist of the novel. Horus — The Egyptian god of war, possesses Carter in the story until they part.
Isis — The Egyptian goddess of magic who was hosted by Sadie until they part. Composition and marketing[ edit ] According to Riordan, the idea for The Kane Chronicles series came from his realization that the only ancient history subject more popular than Ancient Greece was that of Ancient Egypt.
The idea of having two multiracial siblings narrate the book also came from his experience as a teacher. As a lay person, I feel the above building sequence best fits the evidence and do-able in a time frame closer to 30 years and explains the implausible build rate that Romer suggests.

The reconstruction gives a pyramid angle of 45 degrees exactly and a base length of cubits Before Sadie can complete the spell, she sees Apophis, the god of chaos, and realizes Apophis plans to use the power from the pyramid for herself.
